I considered reverting to the last distribution with Gnome 2 but a friend suggested that I first check “Classic desktop for Ubuntu 14.04”. At the login screen in front of gnome selection i have ubuntu icon, only clasic gnome has gnome icon. Users don't think in terms of "apps" users think in terms of tasks. The Unity bar make me nervous, irritated; I can't look at it for one hour. Keyboard is working. I assure you it is there but there isn't any known fixes for this issue... One of the alternative desktops you can install is GNOME (or, more accurately, GNOME 3).
