Poorly constructed.I am surpised it last as long as it did. I had the exact problem and it was stuck in the down position. Not sure if I'll attempt a patch repair of the old units and then do a proper repair in the fall when I can afford time to let the shop do If nothing else worked , can i assume the proplem is the trim gauge ?
