F2 comes up but not F8 for repair. I had the same problem except, my satellite was brand new, and even when i would use the function keys, nothing would work.

I need to use the function keys with a ctrl F2, etc…. I was on the phone with tech support over my modem and had to turn off wifi in order to get a wired connection and it hasn't worked since. I have not been able to connect to wireless for months. The steps you wrote dont apply for this model.
