That works fine until you try to unhide column A, as there's only one adjacent column, column B. Thanks! In answer to the other question, I just hid it normally by selecting Row - Hide from the menu. "Hide" works, but "Unhide" suddendly does not.

This double-headed arrow is a bit difficult to describe; it looks most closely like the double-headed arrow that appears when you position the pointer over the dividing line between column headers.
